You can’t visit Hong Kong without trying their Wanton Noodles. The Hong Kong Wanton Noodles are somewhat different from the Malaysian version. It usually comes in soup. It doesn’t look appetizing at all when they served the dish but after trying my first mouthful, I must say that the texture of the noodle is very interesting. One word to describe it…SPRINGY. I quite like the plain taste and the wanton (filled with prawns) was a great combination to the plain soup noodle. Its definitely a nice dish to have on a cold winter weather.

The oyster sauce choy sum to go with the wanton mee..
Right after dinner, both Elsan (my cousin-in-law) and I decided to have dessert. I’m sure most of you would know by now that Hong Kong is famous for its variety of desserts. I ordered a bowl of black sesame tau foo fah and a plate of ginger tong yuen with coconut flakes and peanuts.
Enough said, I’m still dreaming eating both the desserts till today. The next day, I tried another version of tau foo fah….Watermelon Tau Foo Fah with Dry Ice..it was equally good. More food post coming up, stay tune…

It never dawn on me that food is an art only after I visited this particular coffee house at The Mandarin (first floor). I heard my colleagues from Hong Kong mentioned about its unusual cakes and just to satisfy my curiosity, I decided to walk in and pay a hefty sum of money for a piece of praline and hot chocolate.
The coffee house was pretty cozy with a huge long bar with all sorts of cakes lined up to me liking. They had a few showcases of readily made fashion icon handbags like the Celine Boogie bag as well as a Manolo Blahnik shoes cakes. I was indeed mesmerized by its creation.
Found a comfortable 2 seater seats by the window overlooking the busy street at Landmark. Ordered a cup of hot chocolate and a praline naugatine. The hot chocolate is somewhat interesting but the praline was to die for.
This hotel was also where Hong Kong veteran Singer and Actor Leslie Cheung committed suicide 4 years ago. I walked pass the site just to have a look. Since the incident, the hotel has undergone some renovation. No more balconies…

Decided to pay a visit to Central Hong Kong where all the happening place is especially Landmark, famous for its huge mega retail outlet of many fashion brands. Central is also famous for its international cuisine located near Soho and Lan Kwai Fong. In the night, Lan Kwai Fong is transformed into a busy hangout area with bars and pubs along the street.

The Louis Vuitton Flagship Store
I happened to stumble across Salvador Dali’s open opera gallery at Landmark. I’ve seen his paintings with his famous melting clock but never seen it in sculpture. I spent at least an hour plus looking around, fascinated by the work of art and the story behind each piece of workmanship.

I had a good time sitting outdoor, under the sun, reading my book “The Time Traveler’s Wife” and appreciating my surroundings. Though Hong Kong is a busy city, it has its own little parks and gardens to just relax and do nothing. Next, I’ll take you on a journey of savoring dessert at the Mandarin Oriental in Landmark. Watch out for the next post.
